Before We Begin… A Moment of Gratitude

Before we begin, there are a few people I need to thank. First, I thank God for blessing me with a gift to share with the world. Without God, I would be nothing. Without God, I would fail.

I thank the multi-talented singer, actor and newly minted author, Tyrese Gibson. Bro, you are an angel. I will never forget our conversation on the afternoon of Friday, March 18, 2011. You told me I needed to start a blog. From there, you gave me a vision and focus for the blog. Tyrese, you don’t know how much I truly appreciate your willingness to share and pour into my life. It is no wonder that you are so tremendously blessed. You personify the notion that it is more of a blessing to give than it is to receive.  Because you practice this principle, God will continue to grant you favor. Your best is yet to come, my friend. I watch you with great expectation.

I owe a great debt of gratitude to Adriene Jordan. Wow, Adriene, where do I begin!?! It is no accident that our paths crossed. Truthfully, I feel so humbled to be supported by you. Indeed, your talent has been a force behind several great causes and historical precedents, including the election of the first Black President of the United States. You believed in me (even when I did not believe). Your support and editorial comments gave me the strength I needed to do this “blog” thing and do it well. You are an exceptional talent. I am YOUR fan.

There are two great women in my life I also need to thank: my wife, Fawne Lindsey, and my mother, Charlotte Cater. Fawne, knowing that you are in my corner and supporting me truly prepares me to conquer the world. I thank you for your patience with my busy schedule, and for protecting my time so that God may perfect my gifts. You are the best. I love you. Mom, where would I be without your guidance, love and support? I wish that everyone in this world could have a mother as great as you. You are the inspiration behind it all: My career, my testimony, and my gift. Thank you giving me the proper preparation.

Finally, I would be remiss if I did not thank my brothers and sisters for their continued support: Jessie, Wesley, Gerald (R.I.P.), Cliff, Ronnie, David, Valerie and Niecy. I am so blessed to have incredible siblings like you. I hope I continue to make you proud. Love y’all!
